Christchurch is best known as the entry port for the beautiful South Island, but visitors should plan to spend several days in this vibrant city.
GOLF There are more than 30 golf courses in the city or within a 1 1/2 hour drive of the city. Many are championship courses hosting major annual events. Most courses hire clubs , buggies and carts. Riccarton Rotary Sunday Market, 9am to 2pm every Sunday, except Easter and Christmas Day.
Cathedral Square market, Wednesday to Saturday, 9am to 4pm.
Arts Centre, Saturday and Sunday , 10am to 5pm.
The various artisans with Arts Centre studios operate general retail hours.
ATTRACTIONS The Antarctic Centre, Willowbank evening NZ fauna tour, the Gondola, Science Alive, ride the tram, Ferrymead, hot air ballooning........your choices are infinite.
Great shopping and a number of factory outlets selling great local textiles, and of course great restaurants, coffee shops and cafes.
